A 14-year-old boy opened fire at a prestigious school in Thailand, killing five teachers and injuring 23 people, including fellow students, before taking his own life. The shooting occurred at Debsirin School in Nonthaburi, just outside Bangkok, on Friday morning. A seventh-grade student, who witnessed the attack, described the chaos, saying she was standing in front of her teacher when she was shot.
According to authorities, the gunman had earlier killed his grandparents and then proceeded to stalk through the school, shooting indiscriminately. An 18-year-old student initially thought the sounds of gunfire were firecrackers, but soon realized the gravity of the situation. Rescue workers rushed to the scene, treating wounded students and transporting them to hospitals.
